The CRCA Board is pleased to announce that the Zach Koop Memorial Criterium and Kids Race will take place this Sunday at Orchard Beach in Pelham Bay Park. The event brings a full day of amateur and professional racing to this unique and spectator friendly venue thanks to support from NYC Parks and the NYPD. This will be the eighth edition of the race in its current form and its second as the "Zach Koop Memorial Criterium" after it was renamed in honor of CRCA Racer Zach Koop who passed away from cancer. Read more about Zach and the race here.
For amateur racers the event features 11 fields of racing with the opportunity to participate in multiple races throughout the day at significant discounts. As is longstanding CRCA policy the event also features equal prize pools for the Men's and Women's Elite fields. But perhaps most notably the Zach Koop Memorial Criterium features FREE kids races in the afternoon across a wide array of age groups. Bring your kids out to race and then watch the finish of some of the fastest racers in the area as part of the Elite Men's race that ends at 4PM.
For additional information on the event please visit the race page. To participate as a racer you must register in advance on Bikereg. A big thank you to the Bronx office of the New York Parks Department and the NYPD for helping made this special event possible.
