Race Report April 21
Our fourth race of the season was the first race in our new Women's Category 3/4 Development Series presented by Bike Doctor NYC and a continuation of our club series presented by Accelerade. Our Women's Development Series aims to fill a gap in NYC racing by providing category 3 and 4 women the opportunity to race against women of similar experience and fitness and earn upgrade points. Yesterday's women's race saw a field of 48 riders take to the course, including 10 non-CRCA members. Despite a number of attacks during the race, no break was allowed to get away and what become par for the day's racing, a smaller group got away on the final climb of Harlem Hill and sprinted for the first few places. BrittLee Bowman (Innervation Fitness/Stan's NoTubes) finished 1st, followed by Carol-Lynn Mills (Houlihan-Lokey/Sanchez) and Anneliese Haines (Innervation Fitness/Stan's NoTubes). Carol-Lynn was the first category 4 rider. The next race in the series will be the Orchard Beach Criterium p/b I Will Foundation (pre-reg required)
In the A field nothing was able to get away from the field for any meaningful time and a bunch sprint resulted. Foundation riders finished 1,2,3, Colin Presnky (Dave Jordan Coaching) was 4th and Chad Butts was 5th.
The B field followed suit and Siggis/NYVelocity riders took the top two places with Josh Sakofsky and Roger Parmelee. Jayson Jacobs (W&D Racing-NYC Velo) was 3rd, Corey Morenz (Sixcycle-RK&O) 4th and Steve Kang (Breakaway Courier) was 5th.
In the C field Jamisen Ogg (Cause & Effect) won with a 3 second gap on the field lead by Glenn Hattrick and Andrew Mahon (W&D Racing-NYC Velo).

Team cup and Jim Boyd competition standings have been updated. Foundation have opened up a sizable gap after taking maximum points in both of the last two races.
Apologies to all for the late start to race and the need to drop a lap from the A and B field. Despite planning and clear communication, we still rely on a couple of key people and one of those let us down yesterday. And speaking of being let down... when we get a call during the race from the Parks Department, its usually not a good thing. Yesterday they called to let s know they observed "many" riders relieving themselves in places other than the bathrooms. Also a reminder that although we have a permit to operate our races in the Park, it is not a closed course. Through our marshals and motos we do the best we can to ask other users to clear the roadway as our race approaches, but other park users have the right to use the park too. Please respect those other park users at all times.
Don't forget the Orchard Beach Criterium p/b I Will Foundation on May 12th, which is the next race on our calender. Registration is open here.
