August 10: CRCA TT Championship on Beautiful Silvermine Course
The CRCA TT championship will take place on the Silvermine course in Harriman State Park on Sunday, August 10, 2014. Located less less than an hour from Manhattan, this is a fast and rolling 11.1 mile course on near-perfect new pavement. Parking and the Start line are at the old Silver Mine ski area on Seven Lakes Dr. in Harriman, and the course climbs up to and through the Tiorati round-about, continuing down Seven Lakes Dr. along the scenic lakes. The pavement is ribbon smooth.
Racers of various types will find something to suit them. The course starts with a climb of several hundred feet to Tiorati circle, then flat along a lake, then rolling to the circle turnaround (no technical U-turn!), back rolling, and a screaming fast downhill to the finish. For a map and profile of the course, click here. The warm up area is at the Silvermine parking lot, located off beautiful Silvermine lake. There is no warming up on the course, but racers can spin on a shady road downhill from the start line. Westwood Velo, a CRCA subteam, is putting on the event. They request that all interested riders please register as early as possible. It helps build momentum and lets the team plan accordingly. If anyone needs to cancel for any reason up to the registration cut-off (Thursday August 7 @ 9pm EST.), Westwood Velo has committed to refund the race registration fee, no questions asked. You can go to the Bikereg registration page by clicking here. Important note: in order to compete for the CRCA TT Championship, you must scroll down to the special CRCA Championship categories and register for one of those. Also, juniors race for free!
The Silvermine TT also features a Team Time Trial event and this event counts toward CRCA Team Cup points. Team Time Trials are incredible fun and a great way to hone racing skills. $40.00 entry per team, 2-4 riders (co-ed teams permitted but do not count for CRCA Team Cup points). Only one team member needs to register the team by selecting the category. After you register, please email Steve Goldman of Westwood Velo (steve@trademanage.com) the list of riders who will be part of your team, and your team name. Steve will try as best possible to arrange categories so that riders can get back from their individual effort to participate in the TTT. If there are scheduling problems when the start times are posted, it will be possible for riders to withdraw from the team event.
