2023 CRCA Season Updates
Hi Everyone!
The 2023 CRCA Season is only a few days away. We are excited to announce some updates, additions, and reminders for the 2023 Season.
CENTRAL PARK ETIQUETTE
NYC Parks has had a turn over in its leadership and events teams. Please be respectful of all of the rules while riding in Central Park. This includes, riding backwards on bike paths, riding in the runners lane, riding backwards in the park, and being respectful of all park members.
As the new leadership team gets familiar with CRCA and racing in Central Park, NYC Parks and Central Parks Conservatory will have on site representation at each of our races this year. Racing in Central Park is a privilege and CRCA works extremely hard to maintain a strong and positive relationship with NYC Parks, and the Central Parks Conservatory. In order to maintain our relationship with those two parties CRCA will have a ZERO tolerance policy and any violations will result in suspension.
Now on to more positive things...
INTERMEDIATE SPRINT COMPETITION
New for 2023 the Intermediate Sprint Competition will award a Sprint Leader's Jersey to the rider with the most intermediate sprint points accumulated during the season. The Sprint competition will take place in the Men’s A, B and Women’s Open Field. Scoring will be 4 deep and points will be awarded 4, 3, 2, 1. Sprints will take place at the conclusion of the 2nd and 4th laps unless otherwise directed by the CRCA Website or Race Director. The competition will only take place during Scratch Format Races and will begin 3/11/23 during CRCA Club Race #2.
OPEN RACE POINT SCORING UPDATE
Open races will no longer award double points for the Jim Boyd and Team Cups. Points will be awarded in the same manner as Club Races.
WOMEN'S CAT 3 COMPETITION
Women’s Open field will now feature a Cat 3 competition awarding the most outstanding Cat 3 at the end of the season. Points will be awarded in the same manner as the Women's Boyd Cup scoring but exclusively for Cat 3. Cat 3 riders are eligible for both the Women's Boyd Cup as well as the Cat 3 Competition and will be scored in both competitions when applicable.
MEN'S CAT 3 SELF SELECTION
Men's Cat3 riders are now able to select between the Men's A and the Men's B field. Selections must be made 48 hours in advance of the race. Selections will be saved, and must be updated if you wish to race in the other field, currently Cat 3's are defaulted to Men's A. Cat 3's are not eligible for points scoring in the Men's B field Individual and Team Competitions.
We are looking forward to a great 2023 season, hope to see you all Sunday!
